If you have a new floater in your vision which is often described as a “spider web” or a “ring”, it may be a Posterior Vitreous Detachment or PVD.
This is quite common in our late 50s and early 60s and is a natural ageing change. Oh, joy! With a PVD there is a small chance that it can pull hard enough on the retina to cause a hole. This requires immediate treatment. Please never ignore any new floaters in your vision. And if you see a family member swatting at invisible flies, tell them to get their eyes checked . . .
