Did You Know: Eyelid Twitching

Book Appointment

Has your eyelid been twitching lately? This seems to be happening to a lot of people right now. Eyelid twitching (called myokymia) can be a frustrating, distracting annoyance! Did you know the thinnest skin on your body is on your eyelids? When the muscles in your eyelid contract erratically they are sadly then very noticeable.

There are 4 main causes of eyelid twitches:

  1. Lack of Sleep
  2. Excessive Caffeine
  3. Stress
  4. Not enough Water

For many of us, it can be all 4! Thankfully eyelid twitches are usually benign and will go away after a few days.  However, if yours persists, it can also be caused by eye strain or dry eyes.  In which case, book an appointment to get a complete eye exam.  You may require glasses for your computer work or dry eye treatment.
